Wedding Day Planning Tips

For the Pictures/Timeline

  • Allow more time than you think for getting ready and formal pictures! It’s better to be safe than rushed.

  • In timeline planning, consider the extra time it takes to gather people together for family and bridal party pictures.   Getting people where they need to be for the photos is by far the most time consuming part of group shots.

  • The bride and groom photo session will need to be at least half an hour.

  • Pre-assign a family member or friend who knows the people to be in the pictures to round them up.

  • Avoid glossy lipstick and consider foundation or powder that will reduce the chance of having a shiny face.

  • Make sure there is natural light in the room where the bride will be getting ready (window light). This makes a world of difference in your images!  In addition, keep this area clear of trash, bags, clothes, etc.

  • When planning the ceremony decorations and location, make sure the backgroud is clear of distracting objects.

For the Photographer

  • When planning the layout of the ceremony and reception place, please think about where I can sit / move about easily and without distraction if possible (generally crouching in the front and back and different angles is good).

  • If possible, try to have all bridal details together before the photographer arrives. (Dress, jewelry, shoes, bouquet, garter, veil, etc) This will make the detail shots more efficient.
